Comparing Ourselves to Others

Mar 5, 2024

We have all, at some time, tried to compare ourselves to others. Rather than look to and appreciate our own achievements, we measure our current level of success by what others have achieved. This turns out to be an unattainable ideology.

We all have been created with a fundamental purpose. Some of us may not have discovered that yet. Others are in the process of figuring that out. As we get older, we start to add self imposed timelines. We convince ourselves that ageism plays a factor in all this.

Staying relevant, in all sections of our lives, is a continuous ” work in progress.” We must recognize and be truthful with ourselves on the areas we need to work on. Learning curves are just part of that process.

Successes and failures will come and go. Timelines will vary. Our patience will be tested as we lose sight in our journey.

We can take solace in the fact that we are all going through some variation of this together. I’m sure that many feel the same kind of consternation. That is when reaching out for support from friends and loved ones can make all the difference.

We all need a little help sometimes. Don’t feel afraid to ask for it. It’s O.K
